Position Summary


  • The operational Personnel of a Microfinance Institution plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of operational processes within the institution. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, managing client transactions, maintaining accurate records, and adhering to regulatory requirements to support the institution's mission of providing financial services to underserved communities.

Responsibilities

  • Client Transactions: Process client transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan disbursements, and repayments, accurately and efficiently, ensuring adherence to established procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Account Management: Open and close client accounts, update account information, and perform account maintenance tasks as needed, maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards governing microfinance operations, including client data protection, KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures, and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) regulations.
  • Customer Service: Provide prompt and courteous customer service to clients, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and offering assistance to meet their financial needs and enhance their overall experience.
  • Cash Management: Manage cash flows and maintain adequate cash reserves to meet client needs, ensuring proper handling, counting, and reconciliation of cash balances.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records, documents, and reports related to client transactions, operational activities, and regulatory compliance, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
  • Operational Efficiency: Identify opportunities to streamline operational processes, improve efficiency, and reduce costs, implementing best practices and recommending enhancements to operational systems and procedures.
  • Training and Development: Participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance job-related skills and knowledge, staying updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and new technologies relevant to microfinance operations.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential operational risks and take proactive measures to mitigate risks, safeguarding the institution's assets, reputation, and compliance status.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate closely with colleagues across departments, including credit, risk management, and finance, to ensure seamless integration of operational activities and alignment with organizational goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree In Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field is preferred but not always required, depending on relevant experience.
  • Operational Experience: Previous experience in operational roles within the financial services industry, preferably in microfinance or banking institutions, with a solid understanding of operational processes and procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards governing microfinance operations, including client protection, KYC/AML, and reporting obligations.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in performing operational tasks, including data entry, record-keeping, and transaction processing, to ensure error-free operations.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and propose effective solutions to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Technology Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with banking software or operational systems used in microfinance institutions.
  • Team Player: Collaborative attitude and willingness to work closely with colleagues as part of a team, contributing to a positive work environment and achieving shared goals and objectives.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and adaptability to changing priorities, operational needs, and evolving regulatory requirements within the microfinance industry.

Salary
N100,000 - N200,000 monthly.
