The Georgetown Global Health Nigeria (GGHN) is the operational arm and an affiliate of Georgetown University Centre for Global Health Practice and Impact (CGHPI) in Nigeria. GGHN is a Non–profit, Non-Governmental Organization in Nigeria that promotes best practices in health care delivery and research using local and internationally adapted models to strengthen health systems.

Job Position: Compliance Specialist

Job Overview


  • The Compliance Specialist works with the Compliance unit of GGHN, under the leadership of the Director of Compliance, and support to ensure that Project is implemented in line with applicable Donor rules, and other regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support in the implementation of compliance and audit plans for the organization as shall be recommended/coordinated by the Director of Compliance and approved by the organization’s Management.
  • Support to perform and report on delegated compliance assessments, to ensure that financial control, financial guidelines of donor organizations and other control procedures are in place properly implemented and managed on the project within the organization.
  • At the direction of the Director of Compliance, test and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of operations, adequacy of internal controls, and the safeguard of assets within the organization.
  • Support the compliance team to carry out tests on internal controls, targeting particular risk areas, document any weaknesses and their impact, and to foster corrective actions
  • Support the compliance team, to ensure that segregation of duties within the GGHN are continually aligned and compliant to set policies, rules and regulations.
  • Work with the Compliance unit to conduct first line reviews on transaction, to continually ensure effective per-audit of all transactions in the organization, using GGHN Internal Control Protocols.
  • Join the Compliance team to conduct periodic assessment of compliance in GGHN field operations with organization rules, and other external regulations and policies,
  • Support the compliance team in effective monitoring of the administrations of statutory obligations of the organization
  • Support the compliance team to prepare the organization for audit and to follow up on the implementation of audit recommendations and management actions. Tracking, assisting in prep and ensuring compliance with external audit findings.
  • For each assignment, join the compliance team in writing report to present findings, recommendations and conclusions to management.
  • Make inputs to compliance dashboards to demonstrate performance and risk areas of compliance program.
  • Support the compliance team in the implementation of compliance systems-and-tools developed for monitoring of the organization’s compliance obligations
  • Support in the effective monitoring of process/activity circles in the organization, to ensure financial/operation’s efficiency in the organization
  • Join the compliance team to carry out periodic training of staff to ensure that Donor requirements are met.
  • Join the compliance team to conduct annual monitoring of sub-recipient implementation.
  • Be part of policy-reviews and updates for the organization
  • Other duties assigned by supervisor

Requirements and Qualifications

  • B.Sc. in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
  • At least 4 years of post NYSC internal audit or compliance management experience in an NGO
  • Certification with any IFAC recognized professional body (will be an added advantage)
  • Proficiency in the use of Quick-books accounting Software
  • Excellent analytical and information-seeking skills, with good decision-making skills.
  • Should be willing and able to travel widely within the country
  • Ability to work both in a team and independently and ability to transfer knowledge through formal and informal training.
  • High accountability and integrity level
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, required.
  • Excellent English language oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite.
