Job Location: Abak, Akwa Ibom

About the Program
ECEWS aims to contribute to food security among smallholder farming communities by piloting its program in Nigeria’s Akwa Ibom State by:

  • Enhancing efficiency and quality in the food value chain through an integrated agriculture aggregation center system.
  • Building farmer capacity through education, training, and certification that will equip farmers with the standards and tools to produce high-quality food crops that command high prices, leading to increased earnings; and
  • Creating an inclusive agricultural system that effectively and sustainably engages and generates economic and employment opportunities for women and youth across the state.

Job Description

  • Preparing plans and schedules for farm operations and ensuring efficient resource allocation
  • Preparation of budget and financial reports as well as the implementation of cost control measures
  • Procurement of farm supplies and record-keeping
  • Responsible for the storage, sales and marketing of farm produce
  • Developing and maintaining communications with customers, prospects, offtakes and service providers consistent with the company’s business objectives
  • Assisting with the recruitment, training and supervision of staff.

Minimum Recruitment Standard

  • B.Sc in Agronomy, Agricultural Science, Crop Science or other related discipline
  • 3- 5 years of experience in managing farms
  • Excellent understanding of Nursery planting and seed sowing, irrigation, intercultural operations, fertilizer/chemical application and harvesting.
  • Excellent business acumen
  • Extensive knowledge of agricultural policies and risk management practices
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
  • Good analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
