Job Position: Human Resources Supervisor

Job Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers

Job Summary


  • The Human Resources Supervisor will assist the Human Resources Manager in overseeing HR functions within Arco Aviation Academy, a subsidiary of Arco Worldwide Services Limited.
  • Responsibilities include recruitment, employee relations, training and development, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and company policies.
  • The role is instrumental in supporting the growth and development of the academy’s team, promoting a positive work culture, and ensuring that HR strategies align with the operational objectives of the academy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the recruitment process for various roles within the organization, including drafting job descriptions, posting vacancies, and screening candidates.
  • Coordinate interviews, assessments, and selection processes for academic and other support staff.
  • Handle the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring they are integrated smoothly into the company’s operations and culture.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee queries and HR-related concerns.
  • Supports the HR Manager to foster a positive workplace environment by addressing employee grievances and resolving conflicts in a timely and professional manner.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with staff to ensure engagement and address any concerns.
  • Support the implementation of performance evaluation processes, ensuring that employees receive regular feedback and development opportunities.
  • Assists the HRM to work with department heads to develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensure performance reviews are conducted consistently.
  • Assist in identifying training and development needs and create tailored programs to support employee growth.
  • Collaborate with department heads to support continuous professional development initiatives for operational teams.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contracts, certifications, and performance documents.
  • Handle payroll inputs, leave management, and attendance tracking.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, aviation-specific regulations, and company policies, particularly those related to UAV academic operations.
  • Support the operations team in managing compliance with aviation labor regulations related to UAV academic and other support staff.
  • Monitor the development of employees and ensure that training records are up to date.
  • Manage employee benefits programs, such as health insurance, pensions, and allowances.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 4 - 6 years of experience in an HR role, preferably within the aviation academic sector.
  • HR Certification is an added advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices and employment legislation.
  • Experience with recruitment, onboarding, and performance management systems.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Desired Competencies:
  • Familiarity with aviation academy regulations and the specific HR needs of operations personnel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in HR software and tools (e.g., HRIS, ATS).

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based role with occasional travel to field or operational sites to support HR activities.
  • Flexibility in working hours may be required to meet operational needs, especially during peak recruitment or project times.
