We are recruiting to fill the position below:
Job Position: Inventory Manager
Job Location: Akinyele, Ibadan - Oyo
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose
- To efficiently manage and optimize the company's inventory levels, ensuring accurate record-keeping, stock availability, loss prevention, and effective coordination between procurement, production, and sales departments.
- The role is critical in minimizing inventory costs while ensuring production continuity and timely order fulfillment.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
Inventory Planning & Management:
- Develop and implement inventory control systems and practices to manage raw materials, packaging, WIP (work-in-progress), and finished goods.
- Maintain optimal inventory levels across multiple storage locations to support production and sales activities.
- Ensure alignment between demand forecasting, inventory levels, and supply planning.
- Monitor and track all stock movements using ERP systems and generate regular inventory reports.
- Coordinate and reconcile physical stock counts with system records, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
Warehouse & Stock Operations:
- Oversee warehouse layout and storage systems to optimize space and improve material flow.
- Ensure FIFO (First In First Out) and FEFO (First Expiry First Out) inventory principles are enforced.
- Establish and enforce safety and hygiene standards across all storage facilities.
- Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure accurate labeling, stacking, and handling of goods.
Data Management & Reporting:
- Generate and interpret reports related to inventory accuracy, turnover, slow-moving items, shrinkage, and obsolete stock.
- Provide actionable insights to management based on stock trends and performance metrics.
- Develop KPIs and dashboards for inventory performance tracking.
Team Management & Collaboration:
- Supervise inventory and warehouse staff, including performance monitoring and training.
- Work closely with procurement, production, quality control, logistics, and sales departments to ensure cross-functional alignment.
- Ensure clear documentation, stock traceability, and compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
Process Improvement & Compliance:
- Continuously improve inventory processes and implement best practices to increase efficiency and reduce losses.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety regulations, and audit standards.
- Implement controls to prevent theft, spoilage, and inventory-related risks.
Education and Qualifications
- B.Sc./HND in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional certifications in inventory, warehouse, or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CIPS, CILT) are an added advantage.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience in inventory or warehouse management, preferably in the FMCG or food manufacturing sector.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and inventory software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics).
Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of inventory control systems and best practices
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership and team management abilities
- High attention to detail and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory reporting tools
- Good communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Strong understanding of quality standards, food safety, and regulatory compliance
