Husk is one of the world’s leading rural energy providers. We provide low-cost and reliable power to rural households and businesses, entirely from renewable energy sources. Powering economic possibilities in every village is at the heart of everything we do.
We design, build and operate the lowest cost hybrid (solar and biomass) power plant and distribution network in India and Africa. To date, Husk has provided electricity to over 15,000 homes and business, reducing 95,000 tonnes of CO2. Our aim is to provide 30MW of power to 225,000 customers by 2025, and save 350,000 tonnes of CO2 each year.
We are recruiting to fill the following positions below:
1.) General Manager, Finance
Job Location: Abuja
Division / Function: Finance
Reports to: Country Director
Role Summary
- Husk is seeking a General Manager - Finance is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing and managing all financial aspects of the organization in Nigeria and other geographies in Africa.
- This role plays a critical role in shaping the financial strategy, ensuring financial stability, and providing leadership to the finance team.
- This person will work closely with the country and global leadership team and contribute to strategic decision-making and planning.
- This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in Nigeria and India.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy and Planning:
- Develop and implement financial strategies, plans, and policies to achieve the organization's financial objectives.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support long-term and short-term decision-making.
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and present accurate, timely, and comprehensive financial reports to the executive team and the board of directors.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
- Timely preparation of compliance reports for investors and lenders.
- Monitoring and managing financial covenants and KPIs as prescribed by lenders and investors.
Statutory Audit:
- Manage audits for Nigeria and other African entities in a time-bound manner.
- Manage transfer pricing documentation and ensure arm’s length inter-company transactions.
Budget Management:
- Lead the budgeting process, working with department heads to create and manage the annual budget.
- Monitor budget performance and provide insights for cost control and revenue optimization.
- Prepare financial forecasts and present them to management for effective decision-making.
Cash Flow Management:
- Manage cash flow and liquidity, ensuring that the organization can meet its financial obligations and make strategic investments.
- Implement cash management policies and strategies.
- Managing Accounts Receivable, Payables, and Inventory.
Risk Management:
- Identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks like foreign exchange risk, etc. that could impact the organization's financial health.
- Develop risk management strategies and policies.
Financial Operations:
- Oversee accounting, financial systems, and financial operations.
- Manage Direct and Indirect taxes.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and standards.
- Manage compliances and filing.
Team Leadership:
- Led and mentor the finance team across multiple geographic locations in Africa, providing guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Build a high-performance finance department.
Financial Modelling and Projections:

Develop and maintain financial models and projections to support strategic planning and decision-making.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Maintain relationships with investors, lenders, and external financial partners.
- Communicate financial performance and plans effectively to these stakeholders.
- Manage and retain relationships with vendors/suppliers.
- Maintain close Inter-departmental relationships for planning and providing strategic inputs.
- Interact closely with financial consultants, auditors (Big4), and government agencies.
Internal Audit:
- Develop/review, document, and implement financial policies and processes.
- Conduct regular Internal audits with a view to improving internal controls and adherence to policies and processes.
Fund Raise:
- Assist Global CFO in various fundraising activities like due diligence, financial queries, etc.
- Develop and manage relationships with various Banks/financial institutions to arrange on and off-balance sheet working capital limits.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Chartered Accountant / CPA or equivalent degree.
- Extensive experience of at least 15 years in finance, with a strong track record of financial leadership in progressively responsible roles.
- In-depth knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent knowledge of corporate financial law.
- Knowledge of Direct and Indirect Tax and prevailing accounting standards.
- Knowledge of IFRS.
- Knowledge of accounting for retail business and commercial projects.
- Hands-on experience in risk management in Nigeria.
- Able to handle large data files and consolidate multi-currency financials for multi-geography entities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and challenges.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

2.) Business Manager, Finance
Job Location: Abuja
Division / Function: Finance
Reports to: GM Finance
Role Summary
- Husk is looking to hire an experienced Business Manager, Finance, to support the GM Finance in and around all financial responsibilities for the company.
- The candidate will be responsible for the cash flow plan, trade receivables turnover, the monthly financial statement, and the quality control of financial transactions of the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare cash flow plan, working capital requirement for the business
- Preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances to Country Director and CFO
- Work closely with Business teams for the liquidation of trade receivables
- Monitor receivables turnover and work for greater efficiency on this
- Risk mitigation for the business and control over bad/doubtful debts
- Preparing and publishing timely monthly financial statements
- Support the month-end and year-end closure process
- Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
- Implement business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls and compliance
- Co-ordination with the country director to have the proper financial strategies in place and execution
- Co-ordination with cross-functional team
- Financial planning/actual monitoring
- All other Controller responsibilities as required
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Chartered Accountant, CA Inter, or a master’s degree in accounting
- Eight (8) or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- CA/CPA equivalent
- Finance controlling
- Budget experience
- Closely working with the Business team on finance strategies
- Financial Planning & Analysis experience
- Experience in construction, tech, solar, or similar industries preferred
- Experience with Tally and other ERPs is highly preferred
- Internal controls, corporate governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
Salary
N500,000 – N800,000 monthly gross based on experience.

3.) Director, Minigrid Business
Job Location: Abuja, Nigeria requires some travel across other Husk locations
Division/Function: Minigrids
Reports to: Country Director
Role Summary
- Husk is recruiting for a Director for its Minigrid Business to help expand its footprint within Nigeria and across other parts of sub-Saharan Africa.
- We seek a highly motivated individual with clear understanding of P&L ownership for our rapidly developing minigrids’ business, and a total commitment to safety and the customer.
- The candidate must be committed to executing at a very high level in a fast-paced environment, with a strong leadership mindset and non-negotiable self-starter capability.
- The Director, Minigrid Business will be accountable for the MiniGrid Team's financial performance in partnership with the Country Director and is required to drive continuous business growth.
- This position provides the opportunity to join a growing team that is changing the face of rural electrification in Nigeria and Asia.
Key Responsibilities
General:
- Manage, motivate, and mentor other team members along with others to create a positive, constructive, and performance-driven dynamic, while driving efficiencies.
- Drive strategic vision and direction for the Minigrid Business in Nigeria.
- Drive “Best Practices” across the business. Once a “Best Practice” has been identified, ensure that the practice is visible nationally and to another subsidiary.
- Managing sales operations with a focus on achieving predefined revenue objectives. Forecasting and planning monthly, quarterly, and yearly business goals and executing them within given frame.
- Work closely with Heads of other Business Units to understand sales/business performance trends and position partnership engagements adequately.
- Act as a leader within the country. Understand the priorities of the country operations and support the Country Director and Heads of other Business Units when necessary.
- Support the optimization of various Husk Nigeria activities to ensure best practices are entrenched towards more efficient processes.
P&L Ownership:
- Own and drive the P&L for minigrid business for Husk in Nigeria aligned with profitability and business objectives.
- Provide regular reporting on sales management, sales pipeline development, forecasting, key account status, market condition updates, sales results, and budget performance.
Business Growth:
- Develop and implement robust sales and business management processes. Stringently monitor revenue pipeline to ensure revenue targets and achievements.
- Development of accurate segmentation and targeting of the market including identification of customer and market opportunities, market entry/expansion strategy, and establishing a balance of long-term pipeline and short-term revenue opportunities
- Create community market intelligence packs to drive customer sizing and customer pricing decisions.
- Support business growth and continuous cost & and quality improvements in the business.
Stakeholder Management:
- Coordinate, maintain and develop positive, regular and productive relationships with various stakeholders – regulatory, local, customer groups, etc through regular engagement.
- Collaboration and convergence with all relevant internal teams and Senior Leadership to ensure the successful implementation of business plans towards achieving set objectives.
Team Leadership:
- Build and maintain a high-performing team whilst promoting individual/team performance and a collaborative attitude across board.
- Drive and entrench a customer and safety first culture across the team ensuring business outcomes are met in alignment with high customer satisfaction and safety adherence expectations.
Thought Leadership:
- Drive thought leadership engagements to ensure Husk maintains local visibility as an industry leader within the MiniGrids space.
- Represent Husk at relevant fora, industry events relevant to the minigrid business, its impact and growth trajectory.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Attributes:
- Graduate from a leading institution with a related degree in Engineering, Sales, Business Management, etc.
- 12+ years of relevant business management experience with strong techno-commercial expertise, with 5 years in a similar role within related sectors – energy, power, service sectors.
- Postgraduate degree in business and/or related professional qualifications, a plus.
- A clearly defined strategic thought process and a continuous improvement mindset with excellent problem-solving skills.
- This position requires an in-depth understanding of business development, sales, critical thinking, and a self-starter attitude to solve challenges expediently.
- Hands-on experience driving business growth within service sector(s) focused on rural and peri-urban areas
- Great relationship management skills and an understanding of data analysis and forecasting methods.
- Excellent skills with MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and project management tools (MS Project, Asana, Slack, etc.) for expediting workflow and multiple workstreams.
- In-depth knowledge of the power sector in Nigeria, a plus.
Salary
