Description


  • A paper mill is seeking an Operations & Procurement Manager responsible for field-based raw material sourcing, factory spares procurement, and site operations.
  • This role is heavily field-oriented, not desk-bound.
  • The successful candidate will spend significant time in markets, collection centres, supplier yards, and with aggregators, building supply relationships and negotiating in Nigeria’s highly competitive and opaque waste paper market.
  • The role is critical to keeping the factory running by ensuring consistent supply of waste paper at realistic target prices, timely availability of spares, and effective management of factory premises and company assets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field-based sourcing of waste paper from collectors, aggregators, and bulk suppliers
  • Negotiate and secure waste paper at realistic target prices while maintaining quality
  • Build and manage a reliable supplier and aggregator network
  • Track market movements and maintain internal pricing benchmarks
  • Ensure critical spare parts availability to minimise downtime
  • Oversee factory premises maintenance, utilities, and general site condition
  • Manage company vehicles and basic fleet operations
  • Liaise with waste vendors, transporters, and relevant government or regulatory bodies
  • Maintain procurement records, supplier pricing benchmarks, and cost tracking.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Average waste paper purchase price vs target
  • Continuity of raw material supply
  • Reduction in emergency spare-part purchases
  • Procurement cost control
  • Condition and uptime of premises and vehicles.

Required Profile

  • Interested candidates should possess a Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience in field-based procurement within manufacturing or recycling-related sectors
  • Proven ability to negotiate in informal and competitive supply markets
  • Strong relationship-building and vendor management skills
  • Practical understanding of factory operations and logistics
  • Comfortable working in a challenging Nigerian operating environment
  • Organised, firm, and accountable

Salary
N250,000 - N500,000 monthly.
