Ikore is an international development organization proffering innovative solutions to drive sustainable social and enterprise development. Working in economically deprived places and vulnerable communities torn apart by instability across Nigeria and providing solutions that support inefficient markets and communities is implementing an agricultural mechanization service intervention aimed at enhancing access of smallholder farmers to affordable and sustainable mechanization services in Nigeria.


The project aims to create work opportunities for mechanization service providers, tractor operators, and others in the mechanization value chain. The project’s primary target is young men and women in peri-urban and rural communities, providing bundled mechanization services. Ultimately, the project focuses on capacity-building, affordable last-mile services, financial inclusion, technology integration, and policy enhancement.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Position: Logistic Officer (Tractrac)

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)
Employment Type: Contract

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Logistics Officer (Tractrac) will be responsible for planning the set-up of project sites and coordinating, directing, and monitoring the activities of employees, contractors, and others involved in the project.
  • He/she will oversee the logistics processes in line with the project's logistics guidelines to ensure the smooth accomplishment of the project.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate the set-up of project sites, including infrastructure, equipment, and supplies, by project requirements.
  • Develop and implement logistics plans, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient and effective operations.
  • Coordinate and monitor the activities of employees, contractors, and vendors involved in logistics operations.
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory management of project materials, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards in all logistics operations.
  • Ensure adequate logistics preparedness through contingency planning and continuous logistics preparedness reviews.
  • Supervise staff as required; Conduct periodic inspections and audits of project sites and logistics processes to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage transportation and distribution activities, coordinating with external logistics providers as necessary.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods and services to project sites, monitoring adherence to schedules and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify logistics needs and provide input on project planning and execution.
  • Monitor and analyze logistics data, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and documentation related to logistics operations.
  • Monitor and control logistics costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities and implementing measures to optimize resources.
  • Provide guidance and support to project teams on logistics-related matters.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Management Sciences or any related field.
  • 2 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or related roles.
  • Strong understanding of logistics principles, processes, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement, inventory management, and transportation logistics.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multitask.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and safety standards in logistics operations.
  • Proficient in using logistics management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve logistics issues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and coordinate activities with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
