Job Position: Procurement Officer

Job Location: Port Harcourt, RIvers

Job Summary


  • Provide procurement support to the Procurement Manager, achieving cost efficiency and ensuring a timely supply of quality materials in compliance with quality standards.

Key Responsibilties

  • Conduct inspections and audits on materials, equipment, and processes to maintain quality benchmarks.
  • Maintain documentation of quality checks, corrective actions, and compliance reports.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve quality issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety, Environment) guidelines in all operations.
  • Create and maintain good relationships with vendors/suppliers.
  • Maintain records of purchases, pricing, and other procurement and administrative data.
  • Negotiate the best deal for pricing and supply when required while maintaining quality standards.
  • Maintain and update the list of suppliers and their qualifications, delivery times, and potential future development.
  • Provide procurement support as directed by the Procurement Manager.
  • Support procurement planning and ensure timely availability of quality materials.
  • Assist in the ordering of supplies and act as a purchaser in required instances.
  • Help to drive better procurement practice across the organization. 
  • Report departmental sourcing requirements to the Procurement Manager.
  • Monitor, maintain, and store office supplies and equipment; request replacement supplies as needed or at re-order level.
  • Prepare reports on expenses, office budgets, and other expenditures.
  • Maintain relationships with outsourced services to ensure the best value.
  • Ensure timely payment processing for suppliers and vendors.
  • Ensure availability of office consumables.
  • Keep to date record of stock and issuance.  

Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (Procurement knowledge preferred).
  • Minimum of 2 years of previous experience in procurement officer roles with good exposure to QA/QC.
  • Membership of a related professional body, e.g. CIPS, CILSCM, CIPPM, ISMN, etc. (added advantage)
