Medbury Pharmaceuticals is a division under the larger Medbury Healthcare group. They specialize in manufacturing globally?standard medications such as: Artemether?Lumefantrine, Ciprofloxacin, Metronidazole, Paracetamol, and condoms (Safex), and distributing these pharmaceuticals and medical supplies to healthcare providers, hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across Nigeria. Their production facilities hold CE, ISO, and TVU certifications, and all products are NAFDAC-registered.

Job Position: Procurement Specialist I
Job Location: Ajah, Lagos

About the Role


  • We are hiring a skilled and proactive Procurement Specialist to support our supply chain operations at our pharmaceutical facility in Ajah, Lagos.
  • This role requires someone with a solid understanding of pharmaceutical purchasing processes, vendor relations, and compliance with both internal and regulatory standards.
  • The ideal candidate will ensure the continuous availability of high-quality materials, equipment, and services essential for smooth operations and regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with production schedules and business needs.
  • Source, negotiate, and procure pharmaceutical raw materials, APIs, excipients, packaging materials, lab equipment, and services.
  • Identify reliable suppliers and maintain long-term vendor relationships based on trust, quality, and performance.
  • Prepare purchase orders, track deliveries, and ensure timely supply to avoid production downtime.
  • Resolve supply chain issues, track performance of vendors, and implement corrective actions as necessary.
  • Conduct market research and cost analysis to support strategic sourcing and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Regulatory, Finance, Production, and Warehouse teams to align procurement activities with operational and compliance standards.
  • Ensure all purchases meet applicable regulatory standards including NAFDAC, PCN, and GMP requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage reorder cycles using consumption trends and minimum stock thresholds.
  • Maintain comprehensive procurement records and support audit and compliance reporting requirements.
  • Work closely with clearing agents and logistics partners to manage timely importation and clearance of goods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or any relevant field.
  • 2–5 years of proven experience in procurement or supply chain, preferably in a pharmaceutical or healthcare organization.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical materials, suppliers, GMP standards, and regulatory procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Sage, Zoho).
  • Strong negotiation, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Must reside in Lagos, preferably in Ajah or surrounding areas.
  • High attention to detail, accountability, and ability to work independently.
  • Certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, or PMP are an added advantage.
