Job Position: IT Administrator
Job Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Job Summary
- The IT Administrator is responsible for ensuring the robust, secure, and compliant operation of all IT infrastructure, systems, and networks.
- This position is vital for supporting seamless policy issuance, claims processing, customer interactions, and back-office operations.
- The IT Administrator will not only provide essential technical support but also proactively manage IT assets and contribute to strategies that enhance the reliability, security, and performance of the technology used in the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
System and Network Administration for Core Underwriting Operations:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot server hardware and software (Windows Server, Linux, and virtualization platforms like VMware/Hyper-V).
- Manage and monitor network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, Wi-Fi access points) ensuring high availability for internal users and external policyholders/partners.
- Implement and maintain secure network configurations, including VPNs for remote access for agents and staff, and robust access controls.
- Administer and maintain cloud-based services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, specialized insurance SaaS platforms, AWS, Azure) ensuring optimal performance and integration.
- Perform regular, verified system backups and ensure comprehensive data recovery procedures are in place and tested to safeguard sensitive customer and policy data.
Specialized Application Support & Integration:
- Provide technical support for software applications (e.g., policy administration systems, claims management systems, CRM platforms, actuarial software).
- Assist with the integration of new insurance-specific tools and platforms.
- Troubleshoot issues related to data flow between various systems.
User Support and Helpdesk Management:
- Provide technical support to end-users (underwriters, claims adjusters, agents, customer service) for hardware, software, and network issues, understanding their specific workflows.
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently, minimising downtime for operations.
- Manage helpdesk tickets, prioritising issues based on business impact (e.g., claims processing urgency).
- Onboard and off-board employees, including setting up application access, equipment, and compliance-driven permissions.
Hardware and Software Lifecycle Management:
- Procure, deploy, and maintain IT equipment (desktops, laptops, mobile devices, biometric scanners, specialized printers).
- Install, update, and manage software applications and licenses, ensuring compliance with vendor agreements.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of IT assets, including software licenses and subscriptions.
Information Security & Regulatory Compliance:
- Implement and enforce strict IT security policies and best practices aligned with financial services and data privacy regulations (e.g., NDPR, NAICOM GUidelines etc).
- Proactively monitor systems for security breaches, fraud attempts, and unauthorized access, and respond to incidents promptly.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry-specific regulations and internal security standards related to customer data (e.g., Personally Identifiable Information - PII).
- Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and implement remediation plans to protect sensitive policyholder data.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of IT systems, configurations, network diagrams, and operational procedures, with emphasis on compliance-related records.
- Generate reports on system performance, security incidents, compliance adherence, and user support metrics.
- Document solutions for insurance-specific application issues to enhance the knowledge base.
IT Project Participation & Strategic Input:
- Assist in the planning, implementation, and deployment of new IT projects that directly support product development, customer service enhancements, or operational efficiency.
- Evaluate new technologies and recommend solutions to improve IT efficiency and effectiveness within an insurance context.
- Collaborate with business units (Underwriting, Claims, Sales) to understand their evolving IT needs and provide tailored solutions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 5 -7 years of experience in IT administration, network administration, ideally within the financial services or insurance industry.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory.
- Expertise with network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, AWS, Azure).
- Proficiency in troubleshooting hardware and software issues for desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Demonstrable understanding of cybersecurity principles, data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, local data protection laws), and compliance best practices in financial services.
- (Optional) Experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V).
- (Optional) Familiarity with Linux operating systems.
- (Highly Desirable) Exposure to or experience with core insurance software platforms (e.g., policy administration, claims, CRM for insurance).
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with a keen eye for security vulnerabilities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of translating technical concepts to non-technical insurance professionals.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- High level of organization and meticulous attention to detail, especially regarding sensitive data.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively, especially under pressure during critical incidents impacting operations.
- Strong customer-service oriented approach, understanding the impact of IT on policyholders and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Certifications (Optional but highly desirable):
- CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, etc.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- (Relevant Security Certifications like CISSP, CISM, or CompTIA CySA+).
