Job Description


  • Our client is seeking to recruit a Transport Officer with extensive experience in last-mile delivery and inter-city parcel movement.
  • The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, coordination, and optimization of all transport activities, including developing reliable partner networks (road and air), enhancing delivery speed, reducing costs, and improving customer satisfaction through data-driven decisions.

Job Objective
The ideal candidate will be responsible for task below:

  • To identify, negotiate, and manage reliable transport partners—both road and air—to ensure timely, cost-effective, and secure inter-state movement of parcels from Lagos to other destinations. The Transport Manager will optimize transport efficiency, reduce costs, ensure safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and onboard reliable transport partners (logistics firms, airlines, and independent fleet owners) to support parcel movement from Lagos to other Nigerian states.
  • Negotiate favorable contract terms with transport partners to ensure cost efficiency without compromising delivery speed or security.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for optimizing inter-state parcel movement through multimodal channels (air and road).
  • Ensure delivery schedules are met with minimal delays and that parcels are handled with care and proper documentation.
  • Work closely with dispatch and customer service teams to synchronize parcel pickup, transfer, and final-mile delivery timelines.
  • Establish SLAs with partners and enforce compliance with service standards, safety, and insurance regulations.
  • Monitor transportation costs, generate cost-reduction initiatives, and maintain budget adherence.
  • Track, analyze, and report delivery performance metrics including TAT (Turnaround Time), partner reliability, incident rates, and transport cost per kg/item.
  • Resolve transportation bottlenecks and escalate risks such as route blockages, theft, or delays proactively.
  • Implement and ensure strict compliance with national transport laws, roadworthiness, cargo safety standards, and aviation logistics requirements.
  • Conduct periodic audits of transport routes, partners’ capabilities, and parcel handling protocols to ensure continuous improvement.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in transportation or logistics management, with a proven track record in third-party partner sourcing and coordination.
  • Strong negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration skills.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian transport networks, aviation cargo operations, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience with route planning, load optimization, and cost control strategies.
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced, e-commerce-driven environment.
  • Strong Excel and reporting skills; familiarity with transport management systems (TMS) is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Salary
N250,000 - N350,000 / month.
